Money and shopping – Polish currency is called the Zloty (PLN). Many hotels, restaurants and services already accept the European currency (EUR). Nevertheless, to avoid unpleasant surprises, you should keep a few PLN in your pocket. Currency can be exchanged at airports, hotels, banks and anywhere with a sign proclaiming “Kantor”. Kantors will often provide better value than the banks in your home country or the ATM although for obvious reasons be very wary of Kantors at the airports, bus stations and close to tourist sites. Shopping around will reward you with the best rate.
